Does it really matter if nobody actually ever reads my stuff? If I enjoy writing and blogging and reviewing things, is the enjoyment changed by sharing and having an audience?
In reality, the chances are far greater that sharing invites critics and feedback, and could drastically reduce the enjoyment. Writing to please a reader is a whole new world, from writing to please oneself.
I used to get sad when I would think that my writings would never be read. But I would never actually publish them and share them with the world made me sad. Tonight I realized the fun is in the creating. Pride unchallenged is superior.
As soon as I share and invite comment, I may – probably will, change the style, or content to become what I think will gain the most praise.
I think they call it selling out. Artists who do art to please the audience over their own expressions and ideas.
This is a generalised statement that is deeper. Selling out seems negative in our views.
I write because it gives me feelings of joy, and pride. I write to the safety of my own private hard drive without fear of review and negativity. Without that overwhelming obsession.
For now.
